Our date night on Friday was so much fun and so refreshing. I wore an underwire non-nursing bra for the first time in about a year (I quit underwires during pregnancy). I couldn’t fit my boobs into the dresses I wanted to wear, so I wasn’t super happy about my outfit. BUT my favorite heels fit and were semi-comfy for the evening so that’s a win.
I couldn’t get reservations in Colorado Springs where I wanted to eat, so I decided to get reservations in Manitou Springs. They had bad flooding a few weeks ago and their economy could use a boost. We ate at Mona Lisa’s and had fondue. It was so delicious. We talked mainly about Remy, but spent some time talking about other things. Yes, other things do exist. LOL!
My mom watched Remy while we were out. They did really well. She said he had about two crying fits and he melted down when OccDoc and I got home. He always has a meltdown when I come home after being gone, even with OccDoc, so I told my mom not to feel bad. I nursed Remy for awhile after I got home, well after I changed into my pajamas. Then we said goodnight to my mom (she stayed over) and headed to bed.
Remy and I got comfy and I got out one of our favorite books to read (Pajama Time!). It’s a boardbook and some of the pages stick together because Remy eats the pages. Anyway, I had the book over us while we were laying in bed, and fumbled a page, which resulted in my dropping the book. On Remy. That unleashed the floodgates of tears and screams of pain. Way to rip out mommy’s heart, Remy. Upon closer inspection he had a cut just below his eye where the book caught him, and, yes, was sporting a black eye the weekend. He still has the cut and his black eye is turning yellowish. I felt so terrible about it, but I’m sure Remy has forgotten all about it 10 minutes after he stopped crying.
My mom freaked out when she saw Remy the next morning because she was worried he hurt himself under her watch. No, Mom, all me. She said seeing Remy like that was like getting the first chip on your fine china. I thought it was more like getting the first scratch on a new car (since I’ve never had fine china). It’s more than a dent on a possession since those rarely hurt your heart. Lesson learned, don’t hold a board book over your baby’s head during story time.
